SAN FRANCISCO, June 14 (Xinhua) — Nearly 80 musicians from the China Broadcasting Performing Arts Troupe (CBPAT) will present a special concert mainly featuring traditional Chinese folk music in the western U.S. state of Washington, a Seattle-based newspaper said Friday.

The Chinese artists will perform at the 2019 “Enchanting China” Concert at Marion Oliver McCaw Hall in Seattle, Washington state on June 26, with the cast including renowned Chinese violinist Lv Siqing, erhu soloist Jiang Kemei and conductor Peng Jiapeng.

The concert, to be hosted by Chinese Radio Seattle, will showcase the diversity of traditional Chinese music including Peking Opera, Chinese folk music and classical music pieces as the program covers different solos and ensembles of orchestral music, vocal music, opera and dance, said the Northwest Asian Weekly, a weekly Asian American newspaper in Seattle.

The Chinese orchestra will present to Western audiences some very distinct Chinese musical instruments such as plucked strings, bowed strings, wind, and percussion including pipas, bamboo flutes and erhus.

“Enchanting China” is an art festival created by top Chinese national orchestras of the CBPAT.

For more than a decade, the group has performed in the United States and Canada in a bid to build a bridge between different cultures of the world and promote cultural exchanges between China and the West.
