SHENYANG, May 22 (Xinhua) — Phoenix Tower, a well-known ancient building at the Shenyang Palace Museum, reopened to the public on Tuesday and welcomed 10 tourists, after being partially closed for nearly 30 years.

The move aims to help people better understand royal culture in a broader scope, said Li Shengneng, curator of the museum.

Located in the capital city of northeast China’s Liaoning Province, Phoenix Tower is one of the most important buildings of the Shenyang Palace Museum.

The museum will allow 20 visits to the building every day, 10 in the morning and 10 in the afternoon, Li said.

Built between 1627 and 1635 in the Qing Dynasty, the three-story building with a gable and hip roof was the tallest site in the ancient capital of Shengjing, now the northeastern city of Shenyang.

Its second and third floors had been closed since 1990 due to safety reasons.
